Belgian Coast Walk welcomes a record number of 5000 walkers

More than 5000 participants from all over Belgium, but also from the Netherlands, France, Germany and the UK are taking part in the largest hiking event on the Belgian coast. With more than 5000 participants, the AG Belgian Coast Walk is the largest walking event in the country after the Dodentocht.

The diehards who walk the 80 km already left at 4.30 am and 5.30 am. They walk the entire coastline: from Knokke-Heist to De Panne. The youngest participant in the 80 km is 17 years old, the oldest 75. The participants in the 42 km – the most popular distance on Saturday – gather in Ostend. The youngest participant is 12 years old and the oldest 88.

Eco charter

The organization is aiming for an edition with as little waste as possible and has developed an eco-charter for this purpose. Disposable cups are taboo on the course. All participants will receive a reusable cup that they can have filled with each supply. The organizers will also place three SMOT spots, which are intelligent dispensers of sun cream.
