Beilen and Pesse share points in moderate relegation cracker

Beilen drew 0-0 at home against Pesse and was therefore unable to continue her Houdini act.

The people of Beilene were still at one meager point during the winter break. After the winter break, Beilen collected no less than 14 points until the meeting with Pesse. Due to the draw, the formation of trainer Robert Bos remains in a direct relegation spot. Due to the result, Pesse is still in a place that will lead to playing after competition after the end of the season in which survival will be at stake.

Messy

In the first half it did not seem that Beilen would keep the three points in-house. Both teams played messy and struggled to keep the ball in the team. This resulted in an unspectacular spectacle with hardly any significant chances.

Only Pesse managed to create some danger a number of times, especially through Ingmar Reinders and Marco de Vries. Reinders produced a header that was easily caught by Beilen keeper Remco Vos. In addition, a long shot in the 22nd minute by the same Reinders was perhaps the greatest danger. This attempt was also a prey for Vos.

Attack leader de Vries had the greatest opportunities, but failed twice in the finish. The 0-0 halftime score was a logical consequence. According to Beilen trainer Bos, the messy game was mainly due to the difficult situation in the rankings in which the teams find themselves. “Both teams just don’t want to give anything away. Not losing is more important than winning right now.”

Moderate level

And that the teams seemed to be satisfied with a point was clear from the second half. Although there were more chances to score than in the first half, the level remained mediocre.

At first the Pessenaren seemed to have the slightly better side of the game again. This led to a beautiful football moment that really didn’t belong in the game. Again Reinders and De Vries were involved. The latter made a nice and functional transfer that allowed Reinders to steam up with the ball on the left side in complete freedom. Reinders then served De Vries who headed just wide.

Instead of taking courage from this moment, it was the home team that took control from that moment on and even started to produce chances. Nick Matthijssen headed into the keeper’s hands after more than an hour of play. Just before time, it was a directionally changed attempt by Beilenaar van der Werff that went just wide of the target. Just before that, Pesse had been close again via Niek Brinkman. Due to the also goalless second half, a 0-0 remained on the scoreboard.

Beilen trainer Robert Bos thought it was a justified result. He expects similar matches in the coming weeks. ,,You will play against all direct competitors in the coming period, where everyone will play not to lose. We have enough quality in the team to win. It’s all finals for us and we’ll see if we can get above the relegation zone.”
