Before the top game – Tuchel rebuilds Bayern’s defense

The German record champions go into the Bundesliga summit against RB Leipzig with several changes in their positions. Even an expensive purchase has to go into the bank.

Three competitive defeats in a row, leaders Bayer Leverkusen are now eleven points away, coach Thomas Tuchel is leaving at the end of the season – and now the next top game against RB Leipzig awaits: FC Bayern is currently going through difficult weeks in the results crisis.

Tuchel is now sending the following eleven into the eagerly awaited game against the Saxons on Saturday evening (from 6:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) – the 50-year-old is making changes in several positions. Among other things, new defensive signing Min-jae Kim remains on the bench at the start, with winter purchasing Eric Dier playing for him. Leroy Sané is back on the pitch in attack, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has moved to the bench compared to the Bochum game.

Meanwhile, the injured Noussair Mazraoui will be replaced by Aleksandar Pavlović. Mazraoui had to be substituted after 32 minutes in the 2-3 win in Bochum. The defender was later diagnosed with a torn muscle fiber in his left back thigh. The 26-year-old will be missing from Munich for the time being. It is also possible that Pavlović will move into midfield and Joshua Kimmich will take the Mazraoui position.

The starting eleven at a glance:

For Bayern, it’s not just about putting an exclamation point in the current difficult phase against Leipzig, the team also doesn’t want to completely lose contact with leaders Leverkusen.

Coach Xabi Alonso’s currently outstanding team had already won 2-1 against relegation candidate Mainz 05 on Friday, breaking a Bayern record: the “Werkself” are now unbeaten in 33 competitive games in a row. The previous record was held by FC Bayern, who did not lose 32 games in a row between December 2019 and October 2020.
