Beck clearly missed the World Cup medal over 10 km

Leonie Beck lost her first open water title at the World Swimming Championships in Qatar and clearly missed out on a medal.

The 26-year-old from Würzburg, who has been living and training in Italy for two and a half years, arrived in the Old Port of Doha in 20th place after ten kilometers, 45 seconds behind. Jeanette Spiwoks from Essen reached 16th place.

Gold went to the Dutch Rio Olympic champion Sharon van Rouwendaal ahead of the Spanish Maria de Valdes and the Portuguese Angelica Andre.

With her World Cup double triumph over five and ten kilometers in Japan last year, Beck had already bought her ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris.
