Entrepreneurial blood and a passion for baking. 19-year-olds Beau Kroek and Klendie Nijboer from Ruinerwold both love to combine and have therefore started an oliebollen business.

The scent of oliebollen can be smelled from far away. In a wooden hut at the De Toffe Peer holiday park near Ruinerwold, Beau and Klendie are busy with the batter. “It needs to rise and stand for about 45 minutes.” Klendie points to the liquid dough. “Look, all these air bubbles, that means it’s nice and airy.”

Klendie got into a relationship with Beau’s brother and that’s how the two ladies got to know each other. They became friends and discovered that they both love pastry. “We always baked at home. From cupcakes to birthday cakes, we really enjoy that,” says Beau.

So they decided to start Oliebolletje Drenthe, their own company. “My parents are real entrepreneurs and I like it too, so that’s why we started this,” says Beau. “And what goes with December? Oliebollen of course!”, Klendie adds.
