BBL: Ludwigsburg wins playoff thriller

The MHP giants Ludwigsburg won a thriller in the playoffs of the basketball league and beat ratiopharm Ulm after 50 minutes.

After two overtimes, Ludwigsburg won 104:99 (90:90, 83:83, 38:46) and is now leading 1:0 in the quarter-final series in best-of-five mode. Jonah Radebaugh was the main player with 20 points, seven rebounds and nine assists for the hosts, who were only able to avoid defeat after a clear deficit with the greatest effort.

Radebaugh hit a three-pointer late in regulation to equalize that saved the Giants into overtime. An absolutely top performance by Jaron Blossomgame (41 points, 16 rebounds) was not enough for the guests to win.

On Friday evening all favorites had solved their tasks. Champion Alba Berlin defeated the former series champion Brose Bamberg 114:89, the two challengers FC Bayern (77:53 against Chemnitz) and Telekom Baskets Bonn (100:98 after extra time against Hamburg) also took the lead.

The second games in these three series will take place on Sunday.
