As of: February 18, 2024 4:51 p.m

The FC Bayern basketball team managed to defend their title: with a clear 81:65 win against Ulm, they won the BBL Cup, just like last year. It is also successful revenge for the lost play-off semi-final last season.

In front of 6,500 spectators in Munich, the two title winners from the last BBL season played for the cup. The FC Bayern basketball players still had a score to settle with the German champions Ulm, last season they lost 3-0 in the play-off semi-finals. And the revenge should succeed.

Nervous start for Munich

The Ulm team got off to a furious start in the cup final at the Top Four tournament, leading 18-9 after the first quarter. The Munich basketball players initially had little success, especially offensively, coach Pablo Laso’s team was not in the game at all.

But Ulm lost its momentum in the second quarter. FC Bayern improved significantly, became more dangerous offensively and scored 26 points. Only from the outside could Munich’s quota be clearly improved; only three of 14 attempts were successful. The guests, on the other hand, no longer took advantage of their chances and fell behind. At halftime it was 35:28 for the FC Bayern basketball players.

FC Bayern dominates the game

By the third quarter at the latest, the home team had the game clearly under control. Overall, they grabbed almost twice as many rebounds as the Ulm team. Also because those under the baskets were getting weaker and weaker. The Munich team entered the final quarter with a 59:47 lead on their way to defending their title. They didn’t let their lead be taken away in the last ten minutes and confidently secured the 2024 BBL Cup with 81:65.
