After the draw in Leverkusen, Joshua Kimmich asked himself a few questions in the ZDF interview. It was also about his future. The Bayern star reacted unusual.
The top game of the Bundesliga between FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen ended 0-0 on Saturday evening. A result with which the Munich people can live better, as they continue to have eight points ahead of the rivals and taxes to their 34th championship.
After the game, Joshua Kimmich classified the action and spoke in the ZDF interview of a “happy point” that his team had got in the Bayarena. The captain of the German national team was also addressed on his possible contract extension. Because: Kimmich’s working paper expires in summer. He has not yet signed his new working paper, although FC Bayern absolutely wants to extend with him.
ZDF reporter Boris Büchler first asked Kimmich whether the recent extension of top star Jamal Musiala also had an impact on Kimmich’s decision by 2030. “Jamal is definitely an important player for the future of FC Bayern. Of course I am not making my decision dependent on a player,” said Kimmich at first. Then, however, he adds: “But a few weeks ago I said that it is also important for me to see what happens in the club, of course, one or the other personnel. The picture becomes clearer.”
Afterwards there was an amusing change of words between Büchler and Kimmich. The ZDF reporter said that Kimmich had just turned 30, could extend at Bavaria or sign Manchester City or Barcelona. There would actually be more appreciation, says Büchler. Kimmich then with a smile: “What would your advice be?” Then Büchler said without hesitation: “Bavaria.”
That made Kimmich laugh. “So I take the advice home with me,” said the midfielder. Then Büchler also laughed. The ZDF man said: “Then they stay in the Bundesliga like Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala. So it would be great for the Bundesliga.” Shortly afterwards, Kimmich emphasized: “You get a lot of advice, you can listen to them, of course you take them to heart. In the end you have to decide yourself.”
