FC Bayern hit the transfer market hard last summer, but the rumor mill about the German record champions is already bubbling up again. As of today, there could be a particular need for action in Munich in two positions.
One of the most important things is finding a new striker. A few months ago, after the departure of Robert Lewandowski, Hasan Salihamidzic and Co. did not see an acute emergency. However, the numerous important goals (11 in 16 competitive games) by Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have shown the Bayern bosses that it is obviously not possible in Munich without real snaps.
Since the 33-year-old Cameroonian is no longer one of the youngest, but at the same time, according to “Sky”, no longer wants to be a reservist, there is much to suggest that the paths will separate sooner rather than later. Bavaria’s documented flirt with Harry Kane underscores this further.
The Italian portal “calciomercato” now claims that another center forward, Dusan Vlahovic, has been targeted by the record champions – again. According to the report, the Serb and Juventus are aiming for a separation, with FC Bayern mentioned as an interested party.
Does FC Bayern use RB Leipzig?
“Sport Bild”, on the other hand, reports that Munich has no intention of signing Vlahovic. The name of the World Cup participant had been discussed in the executive suite in the past, but a decision was made against his commitment even then. From a sporting perspective, the 22-year-old is certainly interesting, but the package of transfer fee and salary is simply too expensive, they say.
The situation at Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol could be very similar. According to “footmercato” there is a lot of interest in him. The Munich team is said to have even agreed to meet with the defender’s representatives. However, after his strong performances at the World Cup in Qatar, the Croatian defender will also hardly be financially viable.
Is FC Bayern already looking for a Pavard replacement?
In any case, it is not clear to what extent the Munich company is dealing with Gvardiol at all. Just a few days ago, “Sport1” reported that there had been no contact between the parties. The Croatian is also on the wish lists of numerous other clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.
However, there could very well be a need for action in the Munich defense very soon. Benjamin Pavard is already associated with a change. It is not clear how long Lucas Hernández will be out or how long it will take to get back to full fitness. In addition, the Frenchman has always been considered injury-prone. A strong backup would therefore definitely suit FC Bayern.
