Bayern Munich | Thomas Müller calls for a “goldfish mentality”.

Thomas Müller has won the German soccer championship eleven times in his career with FC Bayern – an absolute Bundesliga record! It should definitely be title number twelve this year. For this, the native of Munich now demands a “goldfish mentality”.

What the 33-year-old means by that, he explained in the May issue of his newsletter “Es müllert”.

First of all, Müller openly admits that the previous month of April was an “absolute disappointment” with the setbacks in the Bundesliga and elimination from the DFB Cup and Champions League.

“You can analyze the individual games in many different directions – all in all, nothing went for us. And there are certainly a few reasons for that,” wrote the 2014 world champion.

However, now, four games before the end of the season in the Bundesliga, it is “not the right time for a large-scale investigation into the causes”.

Rather, it is now a matter of defending the lead in the table, which Borussia Dortmund has regained, against 1. FC Köln until the 34th matchday.

According to Müller, the “goldfish mentality” mentioned will be the order of the day from now on: “With a memory of just ten seconds, you can automatically look ahead. That also applies to us now,” said the longest-serving player in the FC Bayern squad.

Müller promises: “We’ll get the thing!”

“In the current phase we have to shake off the past games and experiences and concentrate on what is important now,” explained Müller, who was no longer an undisputed regular at the German record champions under head coach Thomas Tuchel.

According to Bayern’s number 25, the team owes it to the supporters and the club’s DNA to “do everything to end the season on a happy note by winning the championship.”

Müller concluded his statement with a promise: “I expect absolute faith, commitment and unity from myself, from our team and from those around me. If we put this base on the pitch for 90 minutes in every game, the results will come. We’ll get it us the thing!”
