Bayern Munich sells French defender to Sevilla

Bayern Munich have sold French defender Tanguy Nianzou to Sevilla. The German club did negotiate an option to buy back the 20-year-old youth international. Bayern took over Nianzou on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain two years ago.

The Frenchman played 23 games in the Bundesliga in two years. The arrival of defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer further reduced his chances of playing time. Nianzou will compete with another Dutch defender, Karim Rekik, at Sevilla, which reportedly pays around 20 million euros.

“We still see a lot of potential in Tanguy, but at the moment we have a lot of options in the back,” said Bayern technical director Hasan Salihamidzic. “He would like to play more himself. That’s why we let him go to Sevilla.” The defender signed a five-year contract in Spain.
