Top favorite Bayern Munich has reached the cup finals of the Basketball Bundesliga.
The Munich team won the top game in the quarterfinals against league leaders Vet-Concept Gladiators Trier with 96:80 (51:37). In the sold-out arena of the surprisingly strong newcomer, Justinian Jessup was the best scorer with 14 points for Bayern, who had suffered two bitter defeats in the Euroleague during the week.
The cup title is one of Bayern’s goals this season. Last season, the Munich team surprisingly lost in the semi-finals against the eventual title holders Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels. “What happened in Weißenfels should not happen again,” Bayern President Herbert Hainer made clear before the start of the season. Especially since the final round will most likely take place in Munich’s SAP Garden.
Bayern dominated from the start
In Trier, Bayern were concentrated from the start and were already 14 points ahead at half-time. Before Munich, the BMA365 Bamberg Baskets had already reached the top four. The Franconians won against MLP Academics Heidelberg 72:66.
This Monday, Rasta Vechta and EWE Baskets Oldenburg as well as Alba Berlin and Science City Jena will determine the other two semi-final participants. The Top Four will take place on the 21st/22nd. February 2026.
