Does Granit Xhaka stay at Bayer 04 or does he switch to the AFC Sunderland to the Premier League? Leverkusen’s sports director Simon Rolfes has promptly promised an answer to this question. “There will be a decision this week. Granits page knows about the conditions to which a transfer is possible. If that doesn’t happen, he remains,” Rolfes UA is cited by the “Bild” newspaper.

Xhaka completed his last assignment in the jersey of the Werkself at the test game in Bochum (2-0) on Sunday. The 32-year-old Swiss is said to be with Premier League promoted Sunderland and asked his employer to enable the transfer. As the “BILD” reports, Bayer 04 and Xhaka have agreed that Sunderland must meet 20 million euros, including bonuses, for an obligation until the end of the month. Otherwise the midfielder, who has a contract until 2028, would not change. But Leverkusen expect Sunderland to respond to the claim.
Most recently, Rolfes had said that there would only be a transfer in a “win-win situation”. “Granite is a very important player for us, for the club and for the team. Our main interest is to keep it,” he also said. Trainer Erik Ten Hag even spoke out against a sale of Xhaka: “This club has already given three important players. We will not give up more players, that doesn’t work. That would neglect the structure and the culture of the squad.”
Previously, Ua Florian Wirtz (22) and Jeremie Frimpong (24, both Liverpool) and Jonathan Tah (29, FC Bayern) left the club for a total of 167 million euros. Leverkusen’s transfer income this summer amounts to 190.5 million euros, while the expenses are just under EUR 103 million.
