A lot has happened in the basements of the past second division season, the two promoters have a lot of euphoria. A clear relegation candidate is not in sight for the new season.
Anyone who deals with potential relegation candidates before the new season of the 2nd Bundesliga inevitably ends up with the climbers. Last season, SSV Ulm and SSV Jahn Regensburg got two out of three newcomers, and the year before, two promoters had to go back to the 3rd division with VfL Osnabrück and SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
Arminia and the Cup millions
Before this season, there is a lot to say that it turns out differently. With Arminia Bielefeld and Dynamo Dresden, two traditional clubs have risen – both clubs are the pride of their region, they have a large fan environment with passionate followers, both have already played Bundesliga, and the Arminia even made it as a third division last season to the DFB Cup final – which was lost 2: 4 against VfB Stuttgart.
Speaking of cup: The millions of income were able to renovate the East Westphalia financially. Money for expensive access was no longer there, but financially the club is now at least solidly set up. Top transfer is Marvin Mehlem, that of Hull City comes to the Arminia and brings Bundesliga experience from Darmstadt. “I’m not worried – we have a good squad”Last coach Mitch Kniat said the “New Westphalian”.
Dresden’s Brendel is (still) missing the imagination
Dynamo Dresden has been relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga four times, now the Saxons want to finally establish themselves. But it will certainly not be easy. Anyone who had hoped for well -known entrances has been disappointed so far. As far as the squad is concerned, it could be difficult despite all the euphoria in the area. Dynamo’s sports director Thomas Brendel recently listened to the MDR. “We need a bit of imagination to see who we can leave behind”he said.
Other players for all teams of team should still come. “We are trying to complete the squad in the next few weeks”said Brendel and added: “Due to the club World Cup, the Bundesliga starts later, so the door may only be up for one or the other transfer later. The transfers we do should be correct and well-cared for. So we do not let ourselves go.” Dynamo still has time until September 1st. Then the transfer window closes. If that succeeds, Dynamo at least has a good chance of keeping the class.
Fresh wind in Münster
Prussia Münster has been difficult to do in the past season. As a newcomer, the team had just avoided the descent as a newcomer, but the second year is known to have it all for a promoted.
With Alexander Ende, however, a new coach is at the start who wants to bring a fresh air in. The 45-year-old comes from SC Verl and also brought two new players from there. Lars Lokotsch was involved in 34 goals in 66 games and led the SC as captain since the winter break. Marcel Benger was used in the past season in the 3rd division in 32 out of 38 games (two goals). In terms of the squad, the end has an end “A very good gut feeling. This group has the right values and will be a conspiratorial bunch.”
Lots of new staff also in Braunschweig
In May, Eintracht Braunschweig only managed to stay in the relegation against the relegation against 1. FC Saarbrücken. From the fans’ point of view, the years before, too, were rather poor.
Now Heiner Backhaus is supposed to bring a fresh wind in. The 43-year-old recently led Alemannia Aachen to the 3rd league and managed to stay there in the first year. In addition, Managing Director Benjamin Kessel struck properly for his conditions on the transfer market.
For example, what will be from Elversberg?
This may not be the case – the clear relegation candidates. Who knows what SV Elversberg looks like after the loss of coach Horst Steffen to Werder Bremen and the departure of some top performers with the new coach Vincent Wagner? The 1. FC Magdeburg also starts after the change from coach Christian Titz to Hannover 96 with a rather unknown coach (Markus Fiedler)
SpVgg Greuther Fürth also went downhill in recent years, now with Thomas Kleine but an ex-professional is on the sidelines that knows the club well. And Schalke 04? The “concise” have big ambitions for the new season, but certainly remain a surprise bag.
