In Bayer Leverkusen’s club history, only two Englishmen played for the Werkself. Another could be added next year. According to information from “Sky”, the Rhinelanders are considering a transfer for Harry Howell for the coming summer. Accordingly, Bayer has already expressed its concrete interest in the 17-year-old from Brighton & Hove Albion and has started discussions.

Howell is considered a highly talented attacking midfielder who can also play as a right winger. The England U18 international is still part of the Seagulls’ U21 squad, but made his debut for the professionals in the Premier League in May at the age of 17 years and 29 days. This made the teenager Brighton’s youngest novice in English football’s upper house.
Coach Fabian Hürzeler then described the youngster as a “special” player who had really impressed in training. The former St. Paulis coach also emphasized that age is not an obstacle. Howell, who comes from the Brighton youth team, then played two more games for the professionals in the EFL Cup, where he also scored his first goal. In addition to Bayer 04, other unnamed clubs in Germany are said to be interested in Howell.
In recent years, Leverkusen has repeatedly shown a good knack for talent and carefully developed them into top players. The best examples of this are Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz.
