The national D66 party supports the Amstelveen college in the ambition to still realize a student campus on a piece of undeveloped land in Kronenburg. After the summer recess, the party wants to debate the decision of outgoing ministers Hugo de Jonge (Housing) and Mark Harbers (Infrastructure and Water Management), who yesterday put a final line through the campus.
Reason for the light permanently set to red for the construction of 2,500 student rooms and 2,000 temporary homes is the proximity of Schiphol. Although temporary residence (maximum six months) under the smoke of Schiphol is allowed, it is irresponsible to let students live in the noise of the aircraft for years, the government believes.
With this, the cabinet shows that it is ‘stubborn’, says D66 MP Faissal Boulakjar. She would pay too little attention to the housing shortage, which could be dealt a serious blow with the development of the campus. He is “angry and disappointed,” he said in a tweet. “I will continue the fight, after the recess debate, parliamentary questions in the making.”

At the beginning of this year, Boulakjar argued for a ‘faster’ development of the campus. “I say to the minister: choose living instead of flying”, the MP expressed his struggle.
Krakenburg
The home seekers who have been occupying a piece of wasteland in Kronenburg for two months and baptized it ‘Krakenburg’ are still there. They do not want to respond to NH about the government’s decision to definitively pull the plug on the campus.
