Battered and irritated AZ wants to rectify something at the start of the season

The Eredivisie for AZ starts on Sunday with a home game against Go Ahead Eagles. The people of Deventer are the number thirteen of last season and they want to play football forward and put pressure. On paper, that seems like a great opponent for AZ. Especially because Pascal Jansen’s team wants to make up for it after the defeat in Europe. “We have something to set right.”

AZ lost 1-0 in Scotland to Dundee United on Thursday evening for the Conference League. The return is in Alkmaar on Thursday. Before that, the confrontation with Go Ahead Eagles still awaits. It is annoying for Pascal Jansen that he cannot rely on many players. The game against the Eagles comes too early for Riechedly Bazoer, Jens Odgaard, Jesper Karlsson, Yukinari Sugawara and Zinho Vanheusden.

Last week Bazoer signed a contract with AZ. The defender annex midfielder came over from Vitesse. He therefore seems to be the successor of the recently left Fredrik Midtsjo. The Norwegian signed an agreement with the Turkish top club Galatasaray. Jansen clearly indicates to NH Sport that Bazoer should focus on a place in midfield and therefore not as a central and free defender as he often played at Vitesse in recent years.
