Barcelona and Collboni celebrate LGTBI Pride Day

Barcelona celebrate the LGTBI+ Pride Day with claims and party. This Wednesday morning, the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, accompanied by members of the municipal corporation and representatives of collective entities, has hung the banner of the rainbow on the balcony of the town hall on the occasion of the commemorative day of June 28.

The act was held jointly with the Palau de la Generalitat, which has hung the banner on its balcony at the same time, and shortly before Collboni received the representatives of entities of the LGTBI+ movement in the consistory. The mayor has vindicated the defense of the rights of the collective to “deal with the regressive and reactionary wave of far-right populism“, and has recalled the first demonstration in defense of these rights that was held in Barcelona in 1977 and its slogan: “We are not afraid, we are”.

“The big European capitals like Barcelona We have to assume the responsibility of defending open, inclusive societies, in addition to defending European democratic values,” he cried.

The party will arrive in the afternoon, with a concert that will promote the fight against LGTBI-phobia and sexual and gender diversity, offered by L’Orgullosa from Barcelona,in the Moll de la Fusta and with free access. The musical performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include performances by Tanxugueiras, Elche Boy, Putochinomaricón DJ Set and Sword Masterin addition to the artistic production of Raul Refree in the first block of the concert, among others.

The celebration will have three different musical moments: electronic flamenco (a powerful and subversive story), urban rhythms (energetic, vocal and forceful) and lipsync, walkings and commenters (body positivity and fantasy). According to a municipal statement, these are “three styles with a lot of personality, queersempowered and innovative who beat under the same social, sexual and identity values”.

Furthermore, during the whole month of junethe consistory will offer a “wide range of activities to vindicate sexual, affective and gender diversity” with the programming ‘Orgull de Barris’ and ‘Orgull de Museus‘, as explained by the consistory.
