It was Tieberghien’s first participation. Afterwards he was relieved: “It all went reasonably well. The stress took over at the beginning of the match. But all in all, I was able to straighten things out nicely. I think we can be proud of what we presented.”

No fewer than four of the five finalists came from West Flanders. The finalists were Benny Dechamps (40), pastry chef of star restaurant Hostellerie Saint Nicolas from Elverdinge, Dimitri Proost (31), chef and co-owner of star restaurant Haut from Ostend, Cedric Sorton (45), chef of restaurant Oh in Sint-Idesbald and Aurelien De Noble (25), sous-chef of star restaurant Attablez Vous in Namur.
