There is a lot of interest in taking over the bankrupt catering companies Brasserie De Kroon and De Bakker & De Schenker in Assen. They were declared bankrupt at the beginning of last week. Curator Jeroen Sprangers now has eleven candidates who participate in a serious bidding round. It starts today.

Earlier this week there was still fourteen interested people. Three of them have lost weight again.

According to Sprangers, this interest from both Asser Horeca Bedrijven and well -known chains from outside the city comes with experience in the hospitality industry. Two of the candidates are interested in both catering establishments, the rest sees a case in one of the two catering buildings.

According to the curator, the interest is mainly due to ‘the beautiful location’, with a view of the historic Brink with Drents Museum. The use of Sprangers is that from today the candidates make a bid on the bankrupt catering food. On Monday it must be clear what this first bidding round yields.

Last Tuesday the Kroon and the Bakker & De Schenker were declared bankrupt. Great creditor is their former catering supplier Actifood. This had been a fight for a long time about bills from 2023. That’s why they chose a different catering wholesaler, Bidfood.

Both landlords of the catering buildings also had money credit. No rent was paid for Brasserie De Kroon, for the Bakker & De Schenker two months not. According to curator Sprangers, the after -effects of Corona, higher wage costs and considerably increased prices, both things finally killed the Das.

According to the curator – “Even if there is a restart from both catering establishments” – he will not be able to settle the outstanding accounts of creditors. “It will soon cover the expenses of the bankruptcy, nothing more.” For example, it is still unclear whether the household effects will soon be taken over, or whether the new managers will bring their own things. “

Renate Vos was responsible for the daily management as a manager for years. Partner and former provincial VVD politician Berthold Ziengs, convicted years ago for fraud and scam of the tax authorities, did the accounting. He started in 2016 with the Bakker & De Schenker. In 2020, the adjacent Brasserie De Kroon was also caught.

Both catering establishments were partly financially supported by so -called certificate holders. Now that things are bankrupt, they have lost their money. In Meppel and Roden, branches of the Bakker & De Schenker, in the middle of the Coronaper period, were also opened in 2021 and 2022. But Meppel was quickly sold again. And Berthold Ziengs also wants to repel the location in Roden ‘as quickly as possible’. “Our entire hospitality adventure stops here,” he says.

Curator Jeroen Sprangers hopes for a smooth restart of both cases. But staff is no longer there. That was sent home two days before the bankruptcy. The 25 employees receive wages through the UWV. Some still have money, because of overtime.
