Baking competition Heel Drenthe Bakt must produce new Drenthe cookies

After Heel Holland Bakt, there is now also Heel Drenthe Bakt. Because the bakers of the Dubbel Drents collective let the residents of our province come up with a new cookie themselves. The cookie that wins is put into production.

Traditional baker Patrick Harms from Tynaarlo is one of the creators of the baking competition Heel Drenthe Bakt. “We had the idea of coming up with a cookie for once. But what could be more fun than letting people make it themselves? So we thought of giving flour to customers and they will bake a cookie with it.”

Eleven bakers from Dubbel Drents choose the best cookie baked by their customer. The local winners will be announced on April 5. The eleven winners will then bake their cookie on April 17 in the final at the Alfa college in Hoogeveen. “And the best cookie is made in all of Drenthe,” says Harms.

It is not yet known who will be on the jury. It is certain that they are well-known Drenthe people and not Janny and Robèrt from the national program Heel Holland Bakt.

Harms is one of the fifteen bakers of the Dubbel Drents collective, bakers who use local ingredients. “It really all comes from the region. Everyone has a feeling about that. It is just very traceable.”

The grains from farmers from Zuidwolde and Gasteren are milled at Molen Mulder Pot in Kropswolde. “It is ground ten times. Grind, sift, grind, sieve. This is so as not to damage the gluten. They remain completely vital with us,” says Jan Mulder.
