From the fair to the beach: Baila de Gasolina could not be avoided this summer. You can rightly call the number of Effe the summer hit of the year. Since the release of the single, the men have been on the road continuously. So we spoke to them, how else, at a gas station.
It is still too early for the ‘Carrero Meej Majo‘What they sing about, but with a cup of coffee we look back on their summer. “It’s bizarre,” says Stephan. Together with Milan, Thomas and René, he is serious. “We have so many great performances,” he says.
The members of the band come from Schijndel and Liempde, but thanks to their hit they travel throughout the country. “From Groningen to Zeeland, we actually get everywhere,” adds Milan, the youngest of the couple, his colleague. “Places we have never heard of, we are suddenly there.”
‘Baila Counter’
The concept of the song is simple: a Spanish -looking summer hit that is actually always on its way to that infectious chorus. In the couplets all kinds of snacks pass that you can get at the gas station. From the ‘Cornetto’ to the ‘Kroketa’ and ‘Frikandello.’
Baila de Gasolina was released last January. “With carnival, the song was already arrested in the region,” says Thomas. As visitors to Paaspop, the four realized that they had a real hit. “That number came by in every tent and it always went wild.” Stephan saw that technicians had a ‘baila counter’ on Paaspop. “They had written how often the song passed by. That was 49 times in two days.”

Successor
It is a song that lingers dangerous in your head. But they are still not fed up with the earwig: “People still go out of their record when we perform with the song. You don’t get tired of that.”
A new squatter is already in the making, although the gentlemen who still hold under the cap. “We just have to sing it.” After scoring such a big hit, a successor is of course difficult. And the gentlemen realize that too: “Baila is a great success. But now we have to start again.”
