Flatri after the pole in Bahrain: “Weekend so far perfect”. Behind him Russell: “Surprised to be second by tenth by McLaren”
F1 Bahrain qualifications with a plate to be framed. The Australian takes the second seasonal pole and second in his career, in 1’29”841 at the last attempt. Behind him George Russell and Charles Leclerc.
Leclerc’s words

One of the “surprised” drivers of the day is Charles Leclerc, who in Bahrain hit the third half with the new bottom that debuted in Sakhir. Directed position, therefore for the team, as it emerges from the words “honestly, I did not expect the third position. At the beginning of Q3 things seemed really bad with the old tires, but as soon as we mounted the new ones, everything went better. I did not expect it, but I am very happy. The team has pushed to the maximum to bring these updates here. It is a small step forward, not a big step, but next week it should be a step forward.” Team Principal Frederic Vasseur, immediately after, dictated his plan to the team: “Third place excellent result, in the race with Charles’ car we will have to be ambitious”.
the words of piastri
–
The Australian Piastri, who hammered in all the sessions played in Sakhir, is a full of satisfaction in the light of the pole: “I felt confident throughout the weekend. In the FP3 we had a good rhythm, and in qualifying the others reached me a little closer than I wanted, but I made the laps when it counted, so I am very happy”. Russell will start at his side in the race; McLaren’s pilot sees her like this: “I have to get first at curve 1, so let’s see what happens, but I felt comfortable throughout the weekend. I will never thank the team for the car that gave me enough.”
Russell’s words
–
The pole would have been his if Piatters at the last attempt had not hit the fastest time. George Russell will then start from the second position, but at the end of the session he expressed all his surprise: “If someone had said that we would be in half second by the McLaren, we would have taken it as if we were third parties on the grid, so being second is an advantage”.
