Eintracht Frankfurt has to do without Kaua Santos for the time being. The goalkeeper injured his knee in the first minute of the game against Freiburg.
Kaua Santos will be missing from Eintracht Frankfurt’s upcoming Bundesliga games. The goalkeeper retired in the game against Freiburg on Sunday (2:0) suffered an injury to the medial ligament in his knee, as the club reported on Monday. The downtime is stated as “several weeks”.
Santos collided with former Frankfurt player Igor Matanovic in the first minute and was substituted injured. Michael Zetterer represented the 22-year-old and played a good game. Zetterer will also replace Santos in the upcoming Bundesliga games.
Riera worried about Santos after the game
“It didn’t look good, we have to keep our fingers crossed,” Eintracht coach Albert Riera said about Santos on the ARD microphone immediately after the game. Sports director Markus Krösche had already given the all-clear by reporting that the cruciate ligament was probably not affected. The young keeper tore that cruciate ligament almost a year ago.
Santos has played 16 games for Frankfurt so far this season. Former coach Dino Toppmöller had meanwhile replaced the keeper, who repeatedly showed insecurities, with Zetterer. However, the new coach Riera supported the Brazilian.
