Bad luck at the shooting range – DSV relay team missed out on a medal

A thrilling race unfolds over 4×7.5 kilometers. The German team gets off to a perfect start. But then everything turns out completely differently.

The men’s relay team narrowly missed out on their fourth medal for the German Ski Association (DSV) at the Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto. The DSV team with Justus Strelow, Johannes Kühn, Philipp Nawrath and Benedikt Doll took fourth place in the 4×7.5 kilometer race after one penalty loop and eight spares and was unable to continue the Germans’ successful Saturday. A few hours earlier, the DSV women had won bronze.

Victory was surprisingly secured by Sweden, who ultimately benefited from a disastrous standing stage with three penalties by Norwegian Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen. Dominator Johannes Thingnes Bö also missed out on the 20th World Cup gold of his career, who would have caught up with compatriot and record world champion Ole Eine Björndalen. In the end, Norway only had silver, bronze went to France.

The German men’s relay team remained without a medal in the fourth major event in a row. The grand finale of the World Championships follows on Sunday. The traditional conclusion of the competition awaits the women (2.15 p.m.) and men (4.30 p.m./everything in the live ticker on t-online) with the respective mass starts.
