“Bad football” – tennis director Rittner attacks BVB

In the 0-0 draw in Heidenheim, BVB showed a poor performance. Coach Terzić was dissatisfied – and has to endure criticism from tennis.

Edin Terzić didn’t want to talk about a setback. “It was a step that was rather lateral,” said the Borussia Dortmund coach after the 0-0 draw at 1. FC Heidenheim. And yet Terzić was not at all satisfied with the performance of his team, which had dropped points for the first time this year after three wins.

“It was far too little,” emphasized the 41-year-old: “We didn’t develop any power and barely managed to create scoring opportunities.” That’s why his team “can’t complain about going home with this draw.”

Hardly any of his players “came close to their maximum performance,” said Terzić, who had to do without several regulars in Heidenheim. The absences of Gregor Kobel, Julian Brandt, Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho in addition to the numerous long-term injuries are “of course also a bloodletting,” said Sebastian Kehl.

Füllkrug looks ahead – Rittner is dismayed

The sports director emphasized that the failures meant that there was a lack of “creativity” or “impact”: “And yet that is not the only reason why we are playing a draw here today.” After all: According to Terzić, BVB is assuming that Sancho and Co. “will be available again at the beginning of next week”.

That’s probably why BVB “doesn’t have to fall into a complete depression again just because we draw once,” emphasized striker Niclas Füllkrug and added: “It’s going to continue.”

Nevertheless, the second draw against Heidenheim, after they had only played 2-2 in the first leg, brought out the critics. For example, Germany’s tennis director Barbara Rittner, an avowed BVB fan, complained against the club.

“Without words,” she wrote disappointedly on the X platform on Friday evening, without forgetting to send congratulations to Heidenheim. She had already reacted to a BVB post in the middle of the first half – and vented her anger at Dortmund’s weak initial phase.

“What bad football from BVB so far… hard to understand given the quality,” was the verdict of the DTB boss, who is not alone in the tennis world with her passion for Borussia. Jule Niemeier and Jan-Lennard Struff are also fans of BVB. The latter postponed his training at the French Open in May so that he could watch the decisive game for the championship on television.

That didn’t bring his team any success. The title went to Munich. And the championship won’t happen this year either. However, that should have already been clear before the 0-0 draw in Heidenheim.
