In the second preliminary round, AZ would hit the loser of the diptych between Ilves Tampere and Shakhtar Donetsk. The Finnish club lost 6-0 to the Ukrainians and therefore flows into the second preliminary round of the Conference League.
Ilves Tampere is the current number two in Finland. Last season the club also finished in that position in the competition. Ilves also played European football in the past year. Austria Wien was eliminated in the second preliminary round of the Conference League. A lap later, Swedish Djurgardens was too strong.
The competitions will be completed on Thursday 24 and 31 July. To penetrate the competition phase of the Conference League, AZ will have to endure three preliminary rounds.
