AZ coach Jansen the day after Heerenveen’s blow: “Not despondent, it is annoying”

The day after the 3-2 defeat of AZ in Heerenveen, the switch has to be turned again for the Alkmaarders. Again a victory was given away in the final phase and so AZ still has to work hard in the return against the Frisians. AZ coach Pascal Jansen appeared to have slept badly after the loss, but also saw enough positive points towards Sunday’s meeting. “I’m not despondent, it is annoying”

It is not the first time that AZ handed over a victory in the final phase. Things also went wrong against Sparta, Ajax and FC Utrecht in recent weeks. Jansen will have to recharge his team after yesterday’s blow. “You are dealing with the element of stress and pressure. I cannot rule out the possibility that something will develop in the upstairs rooms of those boys,” says Jansen. “We are in this situation, but we have often shown that we are resilient this season.”

Homework

Because AZ plays against Heerenveen twice in five days, Jansen no longer has to do too much homework about the Frisians. “We recently played against them in the competition. So we know them well. We have to make sure that we are better on Sunday in the final phase, but we are confident that it will fall our way this time,” said Jansen.
