Nepal Police spokesperson Shailendra Thapa said five others were injured at the base canopy, located at an altitude of 4,900 metres. The avalanche killed two Nepalese guides, a Canadian, an Italian and three Americans.

Four others are still missing. Rescuers are on site and searching for them. The injured were taken to a nearby village.
Mount Yalung Ri is located in the Himalayas and is 5600 meters high. The mountain is considered easy to climb for beginners.
