Attention, Bavaria! Union is in master form

Who is going to stop these unionists? The Berliners are getting better and better week by week and with a 6-1 (3-1) win over Schalke they are now number 1 in the Bundesliga for Bayern hunters.

Coach Urs Fischer (56) admits after the game: “I think I need a little more time to properly classify this game.”

Insanity! 1. FC Union continues its winning streak (3rd in a row) with a merciless goal show and demolished the winless FC Schalke in front of 62,271 fans in Gelsenkirchen. The iron bribe with a brutal and sensational effectiveness.

Union manager Oliver Ruhnert (50) on Sky: “We didn’t expect that. Almost every shot was a hit, we were very effective. Schalke’s Schwolow couldn’t hold anything and we hit the post once. The 4: 1 finally pulled the plug on Schalke.”

Goals for Urs Fischer’s team: Morten Thorsby (6′), Sheraldo Becker (36’/46′), Janik Haberer (45′) and substitute Sven Michel (87’/90′).

Captain Christopher Trimmel (35) summarizes this unbelievable result and experience: “Winning at Schalke on Saturday afternoon, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Union goalscorer Janik Haberer (26) is happy: “We would have been happy to get a point before the game, but of course it’s better that way. It was easy for us today. Now we’re looking forward to Bayern next week.”

On September 3rd (3.30 p.m.) FC Bayern is coming to the Alte Försterei and it will be a real top duel – first against second.

Attention Bavaria! Union is already in master form.

Ruhnert: “Oh, that’s just a nice snapshot, of course we’re looking forward to this game, but usually there aren’t many points to get. But of course it’s a nice story for the spectators in Köpenick.”

Who would have thought? Before Union plunges into the international adventure, the Berliners have more than done their homework in the Bundesliga. Haberer: “We wanted to take a point cushion from the league before we go into the double burden. We’ve done it. Now we want to annoy Bayern next week.”

Union can win their first competitive game against Schalke in their sixth encounter. With ten points now, the Berliners shot up to the top of the table ahead of Bayern for a few hours.

Schalke, on the other hand, is still waiting for their first win. With only two points from four games, Schalke is already in the relegation battle.

Union, on the other hand, is on cloud nine.
