The ATP president invites the Government to support Fitp on the facilities and warns: “Major investments are needed. Turin has always exceeded expectations”

“We are very happy to be in Italy. We have a contract with Fitp until 2030: if the Federation were put by the Government in the position of not respecting it, then a problem could arise. But, to date, this problem does not exist and I understand that the parties are in dialogue”. Thus the president of the ATP, Andrea Gaudenzi, clarifies his thoughts on the location of the Finals, after the doubts raised in recent months due to the change in governance introduced by the Sports Decree, with the Fitp supported by Sport and Health. This is the last edition of the old cycle, our country has obtained the extension for another five years, starting from 2026, with the initial confirmation of Turin and the possible relay with Milan for the final years.

INVESTMENTS

Gaudenzi observes the political dialectic from afar and, at the same time, issues a warning to Palazzo Chigi: “Tennis requires enormous investments in infrastructure. Saudi Arabia, which will host a new Masters 1000 from 2028, will make investments of 2.5 billion dollars. The priority of the Italian Government should be to support Fitp on the systems. Moving the Finals abroad? It is not our will. Every year the Turin event is improved, exceeding expectations. And this year, with the fight for first place in the ranking, we have the best possible competition.”
