The 32-year-old was found positive for Cera, third generation erythropoietin. All your results from October 3, 2025 will be void

Five-year ban for Kenyan marathon runner Albert Korir, winner of the 2021 New York marathon: he admitted the use of doping. The 32-year-old Korir had tested positive for the substance Cera, the third generation erythropoietin, in three different samples taken in Kenya last October while training for the New York event.

the results were cancelled

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has confirmed that all of his results from 3 October 2025 will be annulled, including third place in New York. The three positive tests, as stated in the AIU provision, “constitute clear evidence of the athlete’s use of a prohibited substance on multiple occasions, expressly identified in the definition of aggravating circumstances”. Korir’s disqualification, which will expire in January 2031, was shortened by one year because the athlete admitted doping on January 12th. Korir will be able to maintain his 2021 New York Marathon victory as well as his second places in 2019 and 2023, and third in 2024.
