In the short term, Ransford Königsdörffer will be added to Ghana’s squad. He now has a special opportunity in the game against the DFB team.

When Germany meets Ghana in Stuttgart on Monday evening, a player from the Hamburger SV in focus: Ransford Königsdörffer was called up for the “Black Stars” at short notice and could be used for the first time against the DFB team.

Ghana’s national coach Otto Addo reacted to injury-related failures in the offensive with the nomination. Königsdörffer traveled to the training camp in Vienna and completed his first units with the team there.

For the 24-year-old, it is also about his future in the national team. “The World Cup train has definitely not left for him,” said Addo at the pre-match press conference. What is now crucial is that the attacker prevails in the competition.

Königsdörffer made the decision to choose Ghana consciously. “When I got the call, I decided very quickly to play for Ghana,” he once said in an interview. His father comes from the West African country and is “very proud that I play for his home country.”

The duel with Germany still has a special meaning for the striker. Königsdörffer was born in Berlin and played for German junior teams in his youth. Now he could meet the DFB senior national team for the first time.

At Hamburger SV, Königsdörffer is an integral part of the offensive this season. So far this season he has made 27 appearances, scored four goals and contributed another goal in the DFB Cup.

The game against Germany now offers him the opportunity to showcase himself on the international stage – and to position himself for further appearances in Ghana’s national jersey.
