Athletic Bilbao binds Unai Vencedor prematurely – clause removed

Spain U21 international

Athletic Bilbao have extended the contract of Spain U21 international Unai Vencedor, which originally ran until 2025. The 21-year-old signed a new working paper until June 30, 2027. The midfield talent and homegrown debuted for the Athletic professionals in February 2020 and became a regular player last season under coach Marcelino. So far, Vencedor has made 69 appearances for Bilbao.

In the course of the extension, Vancedor’s previous release clause of 40 million euros was also deleted. According to labor law, exit options for employees in Spain are mandatory, which is why the clubs usually anchor them in the contracts with clauses. At Athletic there are already a number of professionals who have decided against this exit option.
