Brinkman (32) went through a deep valley. “I had to accept that I had to let go of all my big goals and dreams for the time being and just start enjoying the daily things in life again. Step by step I succeeded and my motivation to train came back.”
The Egmond Half Marathon is on Sunday, January 11. Earlier this year, Brinkman was the first Dutch woman in the results. Elizeba Franken-Cherono, Jill Holterman, Lisan Duijvestijn and Vera de Vries have also agreed to participate in the competition over beach, dunes and asphalt, the organization reports. The Kenyan-Bahraini Rose Chelimo and the Ethiopian Adawork Aberta, among others, come to Egmond from abroad.
Brinkman does not set goals for herself, she writes. “I’m finally starting to gain some confidence in my body again. No big goals or resolutions for 2026, just a smile every day.”
