The Volendam Henk Koning has had a fish shop in IJmuiden for years. NH Sport looked back in the store at the fisherman’s derby between Telstar and FC Volendam (2-2) last Saturday. “Every customer is talking about Telstar,” said Koning.
The Volendammer notices that Telstar has been ‘Hot’ since they play in the Eredivisie. “Previously it was often negative, but now it is different. Saturday I was in the stadium two hours in advance and then it was already very busy.”
King is therefore for FC Volendam, but his partner Floris Galjaart is a great Telstar fan. “Volendammers are a bit similar types. IJmuidenaren and Volendammers are both go -getters and harder workers. Telstar has done well and I am proud of them,” said Galjaart.
Moments later Telstar fan Michel van der Steen comes in. He was also present in the stadium on Saturday. “We were lucky in the last half hour, but we should have grabbed three points.”
