Has you noticed that the tram travelers on the platform of the Stadhuis stop are so relaxed? Silent, staring in front, down -hanging shoulders and a calm breathing? That may have to do with a new light and sound system that influences your mood.

At the request of the municipality of Zoetermeer, the Hague transport company HTM did something about the atmosphere on the platform. This is because many Zoetermeerders find it a gray and dark place and women feel unsafe here, writes Ad Zoetermeer.

Breathe in, breathe out

HTM worked with designer Rombout Frieling. He came up with the temporary installation Transphere to make travelers come to himself. On the platform you hear soft music and you look at a row of light beams. The bars slowly light up and follow the rhythm of the music. If you consciously adjust your breathing to the starting and out of the Enlightenment, you will experience a relaxing feeling after a few times. Because of this breathing exercise in combination with the music you are waiting more relaxed for the tram.

Temporary relaxation

The installation at Tram stop Town Hall therefore does not drain scary figures and does not call the police in an unsafe situation. It does help you experience the stop as less unpleasant. The Transphere is a test and will be at RandstadRail Stadhuis until Monday 29 September. Depart on time to the station, enjoy the relaxation and you get completely zen in the tram.
