Personal words to Lady Starlight
During her Berlin concert, Lady Gaga greeted her former companion Lady Starlight, who was sitting in the audience, and publicly thanked her for her support in the early years of her career. “You are such an important human being to me in my life as a person and an artist,” said Gaga before singing the songs “The Edge of Glory” and “Marry The Night” from her album BORN THIS WAY (2011). These pieces, she explained, reminded her of the time when Lady Starlight accompanied her musically and creatively. “I don’t even know how she would sound or be if she wasn’t in my life,” Gaga added.
Glam, metal and friendship – formative past with Starlight
The close connection between the two artists goes back to the New York club scene of the early 2000s. Gaga met DJ and performance artist Lady Starlight, real name Colleen Martin, at a party in Manhattan. Together they organized the “New York Street Revival and Trash Dance” party series, where they performed songs from the 70s and 80s – “$5 Burlesque Pop Rock n Roll Glam Metal,” Gaga nostalgically described their shows on Facebook. The two also performed together at the Lollapalooza festival in 2007.

Lady Starlight contributed significantly to the development of Gaga’s visual stage aesthetic and shaped her early pop performance. “When I moved downtown, I wasn’t cool” and “she was so kind to me and believed in me and cared for me as a person,” Gaga remembers. On her “The Monster Ball” tour, she also took Starlight with her as the opening act for her North American shows.
Gaga is back on a huge tour
Lady Gaga is currently on a major world tour with her new album MAYHEM. “The Mayhem Ball” tour includes 87 concerts in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The start took place in July 2025 in Los Angeles, the finale is planned for April 2026 in New York.
