AS Roma is approaching a record series: Juventus can’t get through either

Allegri demands focus on Freiburg

Four days before the Europa League first leg against SC Freiburg, Juventus conceded a defeat after more than a month. AS Roma, on the other hand, have gone five home games in a row without conceding a goal. Two more clean sheets at home are missing from the record. The red card against Juve’s Moise Kean, a few seconds after he was substituted on, caused a lot of discussion in the game against the “Old Lady”.

Roma, coached by José Mourinho, recently slipped up with an embarrassing 2-1 away at Cremonese, but keep a clean sheet at home. In the new year, the Giallorossi (at least in the league) have not yet conceded a goal. Against Juve there is now a fifth clean sheet with a 1-0 win. The longest streak is seven games. The last time a ball wriggled in the net of their own goal at the Olimpico di Roma was before the World Cup break in November. There they only conceded goals in the cup this year – curiously enough again against Cremonese, against whom they also made a fool of themselves in the league.

On the other hand, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has defended his side despite the defeat and Kean’s red card a few days before the clash with SC Freiburg. “We must remain calm,” Allegri said. “We have to recover well and think about the Europa League.”

Criticism of Joker Kean after Blitz-Rot: “He asked for an apology”

There was a lot of criticism afterwards, especially of the Italian national player Kean, who saw the red card just 40 seconds after his substitution for kicking his opponent (90th minute). “He made a mistake, he apologized,” Allegri said of the 23-year-old’s action. “He made a mistake because he caused trouble for the team. That’s something you have to learn from,” the coach demanded. Kean was held by his opponent Gianluca Mancini and then kicked him with full force.
