The Colorado Alalanche returned from the mini-tour with routine wins over the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues, but there were considerable starting challenges on home ice on Sunday.

The Edmonton Oilers froze, clinically killed their superiors and sneaked into a 3-0 lead before the middle of the match.

Cale Makar was missing from the Avalanche lineup due to a lower body injury. He was hit in the head in the previous game, the first after a week and a half of concussion injury.

At the weekend, Justus Annunen, who played the third NHL game of his career, was on the hatch shift.
