Artificial intelligence writes books and goes to write public reviews for them

Artificial intelligence authors are a new problem, which are manufactured in India, for example. Books partly written with artificial intelligence can still be found in Amazon’s online store.

Books written by artificial intelligence are available from Amazon’s online store. In addition to physical books, books are also available for Amazon’s Kindle reading device.

What makes the situation even more strange is that the book reviews are also written by artificial intelligence – of course, a bit-brained author can’t find much to say bad about his works.

According to the Washington Post application developer Chris Cowell had written a technical guide for over a year. A few weeks before the publication of his book, another book with the same title and on the same subject had appeared in the Amazon bookstore.

– My first feeling was sadness, but then I thought that the topic in question was far too detailed for such a coincidence to happen, Cowell tells the Washington Post.

Artificial intelligence opus manufactured in India

The published book was called “Automation of application development operations using GitLab’s CI/CD Pipelines toola” which Cowell had also used for his book. The author of the published book was Marie Karpos, but the person in question does not actually exist.

Examining the contents revealed that the book was largely written with the help of an AI like ChatGPT. The book was published by an Indian technology company called Inkstall, which has also published a lot of other similar technical opus. The reviews of the books were also praiseworthy, but very similar in different guides.

Inkstall did not respond to The Washington Post’s requests for comment.

Tip of the iceberg

With artificial intelligence, it is possible to make very believable writings and also pictures. However, according to experts, the books in question are only the tip of the iceberg of the ever-growing artificial intelligence factory.

By combining what it has learned, artificial intelligence is able to produce a wide variety of texts and contents. Artificial intelligence has been questioned by many means of producing text, and how it violates copyright and commits plagiarism. Of course, these are also to be checked existing toolsbut even these highlight the importance of artificial intelligence.

Amazon removed Inkstall’s publications from its online store after the Washington Post asked about it. Despite this the service is still available several different books with ChatGPT listed as a co-author.
