2. Access from the Master to Jesus?
After the transfer of Gabriel Jesus (25), worth a good 52 million euros, Arsenal FC is apparently looking to the next player from champions Manchester City. As “The Athletic‘ reported the Gunners are working on signing Oleksandr Zinchenko. Negotiations regarding a change of the 52-time Ukrainian national player, which the “Citizens” are willing to let go if an adequate sum is offered, are said to be already underway.

The 25-year-old has reportedly moved to the top of manager Mikel Arteta’s list of possible additions after Ajax Amsterdam centre-back Lisandro Martínez, 24, appeared to have opted against the north Londoners for Manchester United.
Arteta already knows the left foot well from his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Man City and would love to work with Zinchenko again. Even after leaving Manchester, the two are said to have kept in touch and maintain a close relationship. Zinchenko, whose contract is valid until 2024, joined the Skyblues from FK Ufa in 2016 for €2m and has played 127 games since then (two goals/twelve assists). During this time, his market value went up from 4 to currently 25 million euros. Its previous high was €30 million in 2019.

With the Ukrainian, Arsenal would get a versatile player. Used more in midfield in the national team, Guardiola used him mainly as a left-back – a position that the “Gunners” are also looking for.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Sergio Gómez (21) from RSC Anderlecht should also be an option alongside Zinchenko. The former Dortmund professional started last season, scored five goals and twelve assists in 34 league games and has increased his market value from 3 to 10 million euros since October 2021. Conversely, should there be reinforcements for the left back, that would mean that Nuno Tavares (22) could leave the club. Olympique Marseille are among clubs reportedly interested in the Portugal U21 international.
