There was no change this winter. But Leon Goretzka will leave FC Bayern in the summer. Is he heading to the Premier League?
Leon Goretzka could move to England next summer. The German international’s contract with FC Bayern expires in a few months. An extension is off the table. The 30-year-old will definitely leave the German record champions – possibly in the direction of the Premier League.
According to the “Bild” podcast “Bayern Insider”, Arsenal FC signaled serious interest in Goretzka in the last winter transfer window. The Londoners would have even considered an immediate transfer. However, Goretzka is said to have rejected the “Gunners” for this.
But the topic could become hot again in the summer. It was said in the podcast that there would then be a “very good chance” of the deal. To do this, Arsenal would have to submit an offer to Goretzka.
The current leaders of the English league are said to be favorites to sign the DFB star, but at the same time they also have competition. City rivals Tottenham and Atlético Madrid are also said to be interested. The Spaniards had recently been linked with a winter signing for Goretzka. But that ultimately didn’t happen.
Exciting: Goretzka is said to be convinced that his playing style fits perfectly into the English top league. That would speak for a move to Arsenal or Tottenham, but not to Madrid.
If Goretzka actually moves to Arsenal, he would meet a DFB colleague. Kai Havertz has been playing for the club since 2023. After a long injury break, he recently made his comeback and shone again. On Tuesday, Havertz also shot Arsenal into the League Cup final with a last-minute goal.
Goretzka has been playing in Munich since 2018, when he came from FC Schalke 04. The Bochum native won six German championships with FC Bayern, the DFB Cup twice and the Champions League once. More titles will be added this season. Goretzka also wants to take part in the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer with the German national team.
