Two men from the municipality of Dalfsen were arrested yesterday afternoon in Hoogeveen, after they were involved in a shoplifting with a threat in a supermarket on the Nije Nering.

According to a police spokesperson, the control room received a report around 2 p.m. of an incident in the supermarket in the center of Hoogeveen. There the two men would not only have stolen goods, but also threatened the staff. Based on witness statements, it became clear that the suspects had stepped into a car and had driven away.

After the report about the shoplifting and threat, the police received signs from witnesses. They reported that the two men had boarded a car and had driven away from the supermarket on the Nije Nering.

Agents found the vehicle a short time later on the Leliestraat in Hoogeveen. The two passengers, an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old man from the municipality of Dalfsen, were arrested.

The two suspects were taken to the police station after their arrest. They are suspected of involvement in both the theft and the threat of staff in the supermarket.

According to the police spokesperson, the men are interrogated. They are still stuck at the time of writing.
