Fabio (50) is one of the Napoli supporters who was arrested in Eindhoven on Monday evening. He told the Italian news agency ANSA what happened in his eyes. “We just wanted to have a beer in the center and were sent away by the police without doing anything.” Later Fabio was arrested.
Police reported that the behavior of the group of 230 Italian supporters ‘gave rise to disturbances’. According to Fabio, that is certainly not true for him and his fellow supporters.
Surrounded by police
“We came into town by car and wanted to have a beer, when we pulled into a parking lot, we were surrounded by the police. They searched us and asked for our ID, without us having done anything. Then they stopped us and treated us like real criminals,” Fabio explains at ANSA.
“And this after spending a lot of money on tickets and travel expenses, which we do not get back. The worst thing is that we cannot see Napoli.” On Tuesday evening, Napoli will face PSV in the Champions League.
Interrogated without a lawyer
Where he thought it was just a search, Fabio and 229 fellow Napoli supporters were arrested and taken by bus to the police station. “When it seemed like everything was finally over, they literally deported us to a local police station, where we were interrogated without a lawyer present.”
All supporters were released during the morning on Tuesday. They have been banned from the city center and cannot attend the match.
