Directed and production
Directed by Juan Moreno (“a thousand lines lie”) and Sinan Sevinç (“Split Second”), who accompanied arrest warrants with the camera for over two years. According to Netflix, “a rare, unadorned picture of a man who is located on a critical scabbard was created radically authentically and unfiltered like the music that once made arrest warrants famous.” The producer of the film is actor Elyas M’Barek (“Fack Ju Göhte”), who closely accompanied the process of creation as a “creative godfather”.
“As an arrest warrant in 2010 the German rap scene entered, he changed it sustainably,” said Netflix. “He became a figure of identification for many young people and became a favorite of the street rap with his studio album Russian Roulette in 2014. His work, which was published in 2022, produced the black album, produced by the Cologne Grimme award winner Benjamin Bazzazian, is considered the milestone of the German Rap. Press release further.
Guest appearances by many rappers
In addition to arrest warrant itself, numerous rappers have their say in the documentary, including Soufian, Xatar, Moses Pelham, Marteria, Jan Delay, Niko Backspin, Kool Savas, Peter Fox, Capo and Bausa. Netflix describes the documentary as a “multi-layered portrait of a man who stands in the constant struggle with the demons of his past and present. Apart from common clichés about drug or violent glorification in the street rap, the film tells in impressive images how the trauma of his childhood drives him piece by piece on the edge of the abyss.”
No interviews in the run -up to the documentary
The Azzlackz boss seems satisfied with the project and draws attention to the release via his social media channels. Before the publication, arrest warrant will initially not give interviews, as he announced on Instagram. The documentary should speak for itself.
More Deutschrap document
Arrest warrant is not the only German rap star whose life is documented: Netflix plans a similar project for Shirin David. In the past, however, there were conflicts with the production team. This August also appeared a documentary about the 187-street rapper Gzuz on Amazon Prime.
