Kiefer Sutherland was arrested Monday morning after an alleged altercation arrested with a ride-share driver, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

NBC4 reported that officers responded to a radio call involving Sutherland and a ride-share driver in the Hollywood area. Accordingly, the 59-year-old actor is accused of attacking the driver after getting into the vehicle.

LAPD said Sutherland was arrested on suspicion of making aggravated criminal threats. Records show he was released on $50,000 bail. A first court date is scheduled for February 2nd.

Arrest and legal consequences

A representative for Sutherland did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Sutherland had already been charged with drunk driving in 2007. It was his fourth DUI charge since 1989. He later pleaded not guilty under a no contest plea and was sentenced to 48 days in jail.

Previous legal problems

In 2009, he ran into legal trouble again when he was accused of head-butting fashion designer Jack McCollough in New York. Following the incident, Sutherland and McCollough released a joint statement. “I am sorry for what happened that night and I sincerely regret that Mr. McCollough was hurt,” Sutherland wrote.

The actor and musician is best known for his role as Jack Bauer in the series “24,” for which he won a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe. He later portrayed the US President in the ABC series “Designated Survivor” and made his debut as a country singer-songwriter in 2016.
