Arminia Bielefeld sign Nassim Boujellab from Schalke

Without perspective at S04

Nassim Boujellab is moving from training club Schalke 04 to Arminia Bielefeld. On Wednesday, the East Westphalians announced the firm commitment of the 24-year-old central midfielder, who will come from Gelsenkirchen on a free transfer after the end of his contract. The German-Moroccan has played 34 games for the S04 pros since his debut under Huub Stevens in March 2019, the last of which was in February 2021. This was followed by two loans to FC Ingolstadt and HJK Helsinki. At Schalke he has had no prospects since his return in winter.

“In Nassim we have gained a player who has already demonstrated his qualities on the pitch at a young age. He can shape our game from the center with his dynamics, overview and creativity and always set new impulses. We are convinced that we can spark a positive development at Nassim again and that we will have a lot of fun together,” said sporting director Michael Mutzel about the tenth new signing for the coming season, whose highest market value was 1.5 million euros in the meantime. It is currently valued at 400,000 euros.

Head coach Michél Kniat added: “We are really looking forward to working with Nassim. With us, he will find an environment in which he feels comfortable and in which performance and commitment are required every day. During the talks, he made it clear to us that this is exactly what he needs.”
