Arminia Bielefeld confirms: Uwe Koschinat takes over as coach

Third coach on payroll

After Daniel Scherning left, Arminia Bielefeld identified a successor. As the “Westfalen-Blatt” reported, Uwe Koschinat takes over the coaching position at the DSC and should already be presented on Thursday. Most recently, the 51-year-old was in charge of 1. FC Saarbrücken from July 2021 to October 2022, scoring an average of 1.52 points in 50 games.

Update, 9:52 am: Arminia confirmed Koschinat’s commitment on Thursday morning. “The management and supervisory board have drawn up a clear internal requirements profile for our new head coach. Uwe Koschinat has our full confidence to lead our team with the support of all Armins to direct relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga. In our discussions, he showed convincingly and very passionately that he will give full throttle for our club here with the team and his entire team. We will do everything in our power to support him and the team on the way to staying up,” said managing director Christoph Wortmann.

Koschinat added: “I would like to thank those responsible for Arminia for their trust and I am absolutely convinced that we can all do it together. The anticipation is huge for me. For me, Arminia Bielefeld is a club with great appeal that means a lot to the people in the city and the region. Of course we have a lot of work ahead of us. It will be all the more important to approach things with conviction and confidence and to take all fans and supporters with you in order to be successful.”

Koschinat, who is considered an emotional coach and great motivator, gained experience in the 2nd Bundesliga at SV Sandhausen between 2018 and 2020 and managed to stay up twice with the team. In addition to Koschinat, according to the “table football“ Dimitrios Grammozis also had good cards with Arminia, while Jens Härtel was awarded outsider chances. Ex-coach Uwe Neuhaus was not available.
