A man was arrested on the A27 near Oosterhout on Friday evening who had several weapons in his car. The police received a tip and gave chase. The suspect fled, but a short time later collided with a truck and was arrested.
Around 8:45 p.m. on the A58, a motorist saw that the suspect had a weapon with him in the car and passed on the license plate number to the police. When officers found the man on the highway, he took off at high speed.
The man drove over the A16 to the A27 via the A58. Near Oosterhout, he crashed his car on a truck. The suspect suffered minor injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital. There, officers wanted to arrest the man, but he resisted.
Three weapons
Three weapons were found in the suspect’s car. It is still being investigated whether they are real. The police also took blood from the motorist to investigate whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Due to the investigation, the A27 southbound has been temporarily closed. Police expect the investigation to continue until 11:30 p.m. Friday.
